Pixelation has been used to censure ‘the forbidden’ or the ‘unaccepted’ by society, but throughout times it has been going from prohibited to accepted and in constant evolution. For example in movies the presence of nude has always been censured but nowadays it is not an issue anymore.
I started this technique during the world lockdown of 2020 being unable to travel or see the loved ones, where the ‘forbidden’ became our daily life.
Sort of having our life ‘pixelated’, as if we could not see anymore what was behind those small squares… our reality… our future. I used it to represent what I was missing in that moment but also to express my state.
